Environ - The "Coolest" Thing in Solar

Environ Smart ThermostatEver forget to turn off the air conditioner before leaving in the morning? Ever want your house to be cooled BEFORE you get home?

This month, Enphase introduced Environ, a web-enabled smart thermostat that lets you control home temperature from anywhere!

Environ is the world’s first solar-integrated smart thermostat, and it has been welcomed with enthusiastic online buzz. It allows you to manage both your thermostat and your solar system from your Enlighten website.

The Environ device is designed for professional install only, so contact your Enphase installer or attend an upcoming webinar to learn more!

Enphase Closes Latest Financing Round at $63M

In June, Enphase closed the second tranche of its latest financing round at $63M, adding venture capital firm Kleiner Perkin Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and other strategic investors to our investor list.

KPCB joined existing Enphase investors Third Point Ventures, RockPort Capital Partners, Madrone Capital Partners, PCG Asset Management and Applied Ventures LLC, as well as new investor Bay Partners.

We are very excited to work with all of our investors to continue growing and introducing new products. They are great partners in our mission to make solar the most compelling and desirable energy technology out there.

Did You Know?

Do You knowYou can simulate an Enphase System's shade-adjusted energy production using the Solmetric PV Designer. The PV Designer software incorporates shade measurements from the Solmetric SunEye directly into energy production calculations. For more information, we are holding a joint webinar with Solmetric on August 11, 2010. Check our events page to register.

Featured Project - Enphase's 5,000th

Last month, Enphase hit a new milestone: 5,000 systems registered in Enlighten.

The 5,000th system is owned by Addie Haas of New Paltz, NY, and was installed by Lighthouse Solar, a solar integrator with offices across the US.

Addie had been interested in solar since the construction of her home in 2001. She felt it was an effective way to minimize dependence on coal and oil, and eliminate all the hazards associated with those fuels.

Last year, Addie contacted several solar installers, but was told that her home was not suitable due to shading from trees (a distinct morning shading pattern is pictured at left). Fortunately, Addie contacted Lighthouse and they were able to help her create a 20-module array using Enphase, which enabled the majority of the system to continue functioning during times when shade affected some modules.

Interestingly, the modules have similar energy production numbers, but during different times in the day. According to Lighthouse's Sales Manager Jason Iahn, "This could not have happened without the Enphase microinverter and reinforces how this was the only choice. Addie's production numbers are strong and the system is working perfectly."

Today, more than half of Addie’s electric needs are met by her solar system, and according to Enlighten, this is the equivalent of planting about 9 trees per month.

Helpful Hints: Array Builder

Array BuilderThe new "Array Builder" application is making it easier and faster to set up systems in Enlighten.

Instead of mailing your system map to our customer support center, you can simply "Drag & Drop" your system in Array Builder to create a beautiful and accurate array in Enlighten.

To learn more about building systems in Array Builder, check out one of our educational videos in the Enphase Learning Center.
